Wroclaw has topped the ranking of the eight conurbations in Poland with the largest commercial space calculated per person. Wroclaw can boast of no less than 763 square metres per 1,000 residents according to the study carried out by Colliers International and presented in their report "Shopping Centres in the First Half of 2014".

The Wroclaw conurbation boasts 18 shopping centres with the total of 590 thousand square metres of commercial space for rent. The empty space coefficient, that is, space that has not been rented, oscillates around 4.5%. What is more, Wroclaw's commercial space should only grow in volume with the extension of Magnolia Park and Park Handlowy Bielany Wrocławskie.¬Specialists from Colliers emphasise that Wroclaw is a mature and developed market. E.g. the rent for a 100-sqm clothing outlet in a Wroclaw shopping centre is about 43–45 EUR per square metre per month. This is two times less than in Warsaw, where similar spaces are rented for 90–95 EUR per square metre per month, and a little less than in Poznan, where similar outlets fetch 47–49 EUR per square metre per month, and less than in Krakow, where they go for 45–47 EUR per square metre per month. The market for commercial space in the Wroclaw conurbation has been on the steady rise since the mid-1990s, but the most prominent commercial buildings in the city, such as Galeria Dominikańska (30 700 sqm), Pasaż Grunwaldzki (52 000 sqm) and Magnolia Park (76 900 sqm) sprang up after 2000. In 2009, the building of the former Wartheim Department Store, which dates back to 1930, was converted into Renoma, the first shopping centre at the city's main shopping street.
