First ten buses fitted out with USB hubs have just entered the streets of Wroclaw. For you to recharge your phone, tablet or e-book reader. Additional equipment is expected to encourage passengers to use public transport more often. Solaris Bus&Coach will supply DRABPOL chargers as part of their business agreement with MPK Wroclaw. The chargers should be installed in all 57 Solaris vehicles by the end of the year. Wroclaw MPK are blazing the trail with a new service for passengers to use on public transport. Up till now, although in limited numbers, only MPK Jaworzno have installed such hubs in their buses.In Wroclaw, solo vehicles were installed with one hub located next to the backrest for disabled persons while articulated vehicles with two (an additional hub under the validating machine at the third door from the head of the bus). Each charger can accommodate two USB plugs at the same time. If this solutions works, MPK is open to install similar chargers in other bus types. This depends on how many passengers will be using the chargers.
USB hubs were installed in buses with the following side numbers:5401, 5402, 5403, 5404, 5405, 5441, 5442, 5443, 5444, 5601
The manufacturer is now in the process of transferring the vehicles to Wroclaw. Approx. 50 vehicles have already been supplied. Wroclaw Solaris vehicles have been fitted out with a number of innovative services to improve the comfort of MPK passengers. These include:
- Air conditioning
- Durable seats with "3D upholstery
- Buttons with Braille information for blind persons
- Brightly-coloured numeric tables on the outside of the vehicles for short-sighted persons
- Sound information inside and outside of the vehicles
- Monitoring: better recording quality at night with special separate infra-red lamps.
