Zarząd Inwestycji Miejskich [City Investment Management Board] prepares to announce a tender for the construction of Centrum Kultury i Aktywności Lokalnej [the Centre for Culture and Local Activity] at the model housing estate Nowe Żerniki - WUWA2. This is where the residents will be able to spend their free time, for example meeting at the seniors\' club or cooking together at the common kitchen.

At the beginning of 2015 Zarząd Inwestycji Miejskich [City Investment Management Board] wants to announce a tender for the construction of Centrum Kultury i Aktywności Lokalnej [the Centre for Culture and Local Activity] at the model housing estate Nowe Żerniki - WUWA2. The Centre is to be built at the so-called ul. Bazarkowa, which is to be the composition axis of the estate. In fact, the street is to start at the Centre for Culture and Local Activity, and end at the local market. It is to be ca. 600 metre long.

"At present, the project documentation for the tender is almost ready. We will be ready to announce it at the beginning of the next year" informed Urszula Badura, the head of the City Investment Management Board.

The project of the Centre for Culture and Local Activity was prepared by the CH+ Architekci studio. It involves re-using an existing military shelter from World War II. "The bunker will be literally embedded in the culture centre's construction. Inner ceilings and walls will be demolished so the bunker may be adapted for a multi-purpose room with audience, which will accommodate over 170 people - says the head of CIMB.

The Centre will also house two music rooms (the smaller one will serve as percussion class room), and also an art and ceramics studio, a café and a seniors' club. A smaller multi-purpose room was also planned, with a space of 84 m sq, with bathrooms, which will allow for organising sports classes, such as aerobics or yoga. Inside the building a patio was also designed, the size of the bunker. It will be roofed in order to host summer events even at unfavourable weather.

NOWE ŻERNIKI-WUWA2 set trends

For the first time ever in Wrocław, the Centre for Culture and Local Activity will host a common kitchen. It will be a place where the residents of Nowe Żerniki can meet and cook together. As the architects say, such solution is becoming widely popular in Western Europe, and they couldn't give such solution a miss in Wrocław model housing estate.

On the southern side of the Centre for Culture and Local Activity a pond was designed, which is to act as both decoration and a retention reservoir, collecting rain water from all streets of the estate. The design includes several descents to the shore, so the residents can spend their leisure time by the water.
