Bike boxesare specially designed places (usually marked with red paint) at intersections with traffic lights to help cyclists stop at the red light. This means they will be able to start first and have better visibility when the light switches to green.
If there are two boxes at the intersection, one in front of the zebra crossing and the other behind, then you use one OR the other depending on which direction you are coming from. The best example in this respect can be found at the intersection of ul. Świdnicka and ul. Piłsudksiego. If you wish to learn more, please click and watch two videos below.
Bike boxes are now scattered all around the city, e.g. in ul. Świdnicka and ul. Widok, Pl. Dominikański or Pl. Jana Pawła II.
