Baza! open-air installation

Last year's Polegiwacz (Recliner) by Mikołaj Smoleński and its tremendous success is just a prelude to what Archi-box is going to offer you this year. Baza!, a new place to sit, have a meeting, have a cup of coffee and talk about the city opened on 25 June at the Architecture Museum.

This year's installation has been designed by Magdalena Szwajcowska and Michał Majewski, the co-creators of the Wroclaw-based Soda association. The pavilion holding the installation is located in the green area in front of the Architecture Museum, but this time the outdoor activities are going to spread all around the city. A variety of micro-installations designed by Szwajcowska and Majewski to address the shortcomings that the architects have diagnosed in the urban tissue are going to crop up in a number of spots around Wroclaw.

This versatile and temporary structure is similar to Polegiwacz (Recliner) in that it stands in front of the museum and facilitates a variety of events. The pavilion with its adjacent café is a perfect spot to relax and socialise, and a place to exchange ideas, organise discussions, lectures and open-air concerts and events. The pavilion's very form is a statement to promote culture and to draw a variety of users, which in itself shapes active cultural participation. Additionally, the pavilion's flexible programme is going to promote latest and sustainable trends in urban regeneration.

Designed by Magdalena Szwajcowska and Michał Majewski, the installation is going to become a major urban think-tank this summer to discuss the Wroclaw Civic Budget and many more topics vital for the city. All Thursday afternoons this summer are going to gather activists and Wroclaw Civic Budget project leaders to create a Hyde Park of sorts and a space to present projects which are going to be put to a vote in October.

Baza! is open to the public from 25 June 2015 (opened at 8 p.m.) to 3 October 2015
