The area between ul. Lotnicza, ul. Szybowcowa, and ul. Drzewieckiego (in the back of the store) is to turn in the coming years into a green square with a small pergola, lawn, and benches. The project is to be performed in stages. The city's Road Management and City Maintenance Department (ZDiUM) has already ordered the performance of first works.
In the coming weeks, Drobud, the contractor, will build a sidewalks between ul. Lotnicza and ul. Szybowcowa, as well as a bike lane and a pedestrian crossing at ul. Szybowcowa. The works will cost approximately PLN 140 thousand and should be completed in mid-July.
Easier and more convenient
"We want to make it easier for the residents to get from ul. Lotnicza to ul. Szybowcowa. Now they use paths across the lawn and in order to get to the store from the stops they need to cross a small embankment", said Ewa Mazur, a spokesman of the ZDiUM. This project will include construction of an asphalt bike lane, a sidewalk made from concrete pavers, a sidewalk made from concrete slabs arranged in black and white bands, stairs, and a ramp on the side of the pedestrian crossing at ul. Lotnicza in the direction of the store. Also, bollards will be installed on the side of the existing car park and will renovate the existing vegetation patch on the side of the store. This will make the pedestrian traffic more orderly and will make the trip from the stop much more pleasant.
This is not all
However, this is just the beginning. In the coming years, more projects are to be performed. The ZDiUM and the Municipal Resources Management Department are planning to develop this area and to improve its appearance. The plans even include installation of a small pergola with special platforms. Also, the plan is to have more plants, build new alleys and walkways, and install benches for local residents and visitors.JK
