On 26 August 1980, workers at the bus depot on ul Grabiszyńska decided to go on strike. As of today, those who visit Wroclaw's Rynek may have a look at the exhibition of photographs that recount this momentous event and present the history of the depot. The exhibition, which was created by Tomasz Sielicki, has been organised by the "Memory and Future" Centre. A special multimedia fountain show at the Pergola is expected to take place on 29 August. The show is scheduled to begin at 10 pm and it will represent a series of images of Martial Law and the Polish legislative election of 1989. The main part of the celebrations is to be held on 30 and 31 August. As usual, the Wrock for Freedom Festival is scheduled for Saturday. The Blues Brothers Band are expected to add lustre to the event. On Sunday, flowers will be laid at the depot. The celebrations will be concluded with the 24th Solidarity Run. On 6 September, 1000 participants will cover a historic distance of 5200 metres between the depot on ul Grabiszyńska and Plac Solidarności. The best of the contestants can cover the distance in well under 15 minutes. Family celebrations will follow immediately after the event.
